If you love nectarines, get ready for three shipments of beautiful, succulent nectarine varieties, each unique and all with exquisite flavor and texture. This fruit club is likely to ship weekly; however, deliveries may be staggered to ensure that you enjoy a diversity of the varieties we grow.
We grow thirteen varieties of yellow nectarines and four varieties of white nectarines, and they are typically harvested from early July to early September. Flavor profiles range from sweet and tangy to firm and juicy. Every nectarine variety we grow is a delight to the senses!
Perfectly sized for eating out of hand, nectarines offer a source of vitamins A and C, copper and potassium.
Nectarine vs. Peach
Many people think nectarines are a hybrid fruit, but they are really just peaches that lack the gene for fuzz! Every so often, a nectarine can be spotted growing naturally on one of our peach trees. Though they're peaches in disguise, nectarines are regarded commercially as different fruits, and the lack of fuzz can make for a very different eating experience. For example, you first notice the smooth and gleaming skin. With your first mouthful, you'll experience exceptionally juicy and ultra-luscious flesh.
As with peaches, nectarines can be white or yellow, clingstone or freestone. On average, they're slightly smaller and sweeter than their cousins, and the absence of fuzz can make their skins appear more reddish.
About Our Nectarine Boxes
At Frog Hollow Farm, spring marks the start of stone fruit season. As you look around our orchards, you'll spot these fruits ripening into sweet, tangy and succulent globes of perfection hanging from our trees that we pick directly by hand. Over several months, different varieties ripen - each with a unique texture and flavor profile. Our fruit clubs give you a chance to try a sampling of our varieties and discover your favorites.
