Sweet and Tangy Apricot Conserve Barbecue Sauce

Sweet and Tangy Apricot Conserve Barbecue Sauce

This sauce balances sparkling apricots with savory depth and a touch of heat. It takes just 15 minutes to prepare and is fantastic on ribs, chicken, and pork chops.

Ingredients

  - 1 ¼ cups Frog Hollow Farm Apricot Conserve

  - 1 cup ketchup

  - ¼ cup honey

  - ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

  - 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

  - 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard

  - 1 tsp. garlic powder

  - 1 tsp. smoked paprika

  - ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  - ½ tsp. salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1.  Combine: In a medium saucepan, whisk all ingredients together until smooth.

2.  Simmer: Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Let the mixture simmer gently for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.

3.  Blend: Because Frog Hollow Farm's apricot conserve contains large fruit chunks, use an immersion blender to process the sauce until it reaches your desired consistency.

4.  Cool & Store: Remove from heat and let cool. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Pro-Tips for Basting & Glazing

  - Timing: If you are glazing ribs or pork, wait until the meat is almost fully cooked before brushing on the sauce.

  - Heat Management: Due to the high sugar content in the conserve, the sauce will caramelize quickly and may burn if kept over direct, high heat for too long.

  - Serving: Brush it onto your meat during the last 5-10 minutes of grilling or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce.
