Our Peaches Just Landed in CA Sweetgreen

Sweetgreen, the fast-casual restaurant with over 285 locations nationwide, just launched the Alice Waters Peach & Goat Cheese Salad, available through August 10, and once again, our organic peaches are part of the story. The salad brings together arugula and spring mix, peaches, goat cheese, cucumbers, basil, mint, and almonds, finished with a lemon tarragon vinaigrette. It’s built around peak peach season, when peaches are at their sweetest, and it’s a fitting tribute: the dish honors Alice Waters, whose belief in seasonal, farm-direct sourcing helped shape how a lot of us think about eating well.

That connection runs deep for us. Alice introduced Sweetgreen to Frog Hollow, and our relationship with Alice goes back much further. For decades, our fruit has found its way onto the menu at Chez Panisse, often piled into the restaurant's well-known copper bowl or folded into desserts that celebrate whatever’s ripe that week. It’s the same philosophy driving this salad: let the ingredients speak for themselves, and source them from farms that treat soil health as the foundation of flavor.

What makes these partnerships exciting is that they signal where the food system could go. A fast-casual restaurant with hundreds of locations nationwide that builds relationships with regional growers, commits to organic sourcing, and creates a menu that shifts with the seasons is still the exception. But it points to opportunity. Schools, hospitals, colleges, and work campuses procure food at scale, and each represents a chance to shift to this kind of sourcing model, one that seeks to bolster independent organic farms. Menus like this one help move that work forward, educating consumers as many eaters ask where their food comes from.

This year’s seasonal peach bowl also supports the Edible Schoolyard, with Sweetgreen donating a portion of the proceeds from each bowl sold to the nonprofit's work to bring garden and kitchen classrooms into public schools. We are passionate about bringing flavorful, organic foods to public schools, too, and have spent the last several years developing relationships with school food service directors, supported by the work of Conscious Kitchen, because we believe kids deserve the same access to real, nutritious food that we grow every day at Frog Hollow. Seeing a fast casual restaurant company support this goal and do it through something as simple as a peach salad is something we are glad to be a part of.

You can taste our peaches in the Alice Waters Peach & Goat Cheese Salad at any Sweetgreen in California through August 10th, or order peaches directly from us and taste the season for yourself.
