Acme Bread
Acme's Herb Slab is one of their most popular breads. We make it from a long-fermented dough to which we’ve add chopped fresh rosemary and extra-virgin olive oil. The bakers at Acme hand-form the dough into rectangular slabs, which they bake in our stone hearthed deck ovens, flipping them over half-way through the bake to give them their characteristic double crust. The olive oil in the dough imparts a golden hue to this bread. The texture is soft and the inside is light and airy with a Mediterranean flavor.
The loaf is frozen at the peak of freshness and will arrive with defrosting instructions.
This package contains two loaves that are shipped frozen; however, they may not arrive frozen. Each loaf measures 12″ × 6″ x 1″ and weighs 1lb.
Defrost Instructions - To eat right away: Let it sit at room temperature to defrost for 3-4 hours. Don't be tempted to microwave your bread to defrost, as this dries it out and makes it rubbery! - To keep frozen: Keep it in its paper bag and put it in another zip-locked plastic bag in your freezer for up to a month. - To freeze in slices: Let defrost for 3-4 hours (or as soon as you can get a bread knife through it) and slice to desired thickness. Freeze slices separately (to keep from sticking together) then follow steps above. - To defrost after freezing: Take out of freezer, keep in its wrappings, and let it defrost at room temp for at least 4 hours or overnight. Slices will thaw out much faster—in about a half-hour. - To serve the bread warm after defrosting, wrap your bread in parchment paper and foil and place it in an oven heated to 400 degrees for 3 or 4 minutes.

We do not ship over the weekend. Perishable orders placed after 5:30AM PST Wednesday will not ship until the following week without expedited shipping. If you have missed the deadline please call and we will try our best to accommodate your order.
