Rooted in Collaboration: Our Partnership with Urban Edge Farm

At Frog Hollow Farm, we believe that a thriving food system starts with collaboration. That’s why we partner with neighboring farms that share our commitment to sustainability, organic practices, and good food. Just four miles down the road, The Urban Edge Farm has become a vital part of that ecosystem and one of the suppliers for our CSA Vegetable Share.

Run by the Cecchini family, The Urban Edge Farm is a small but mighty diversified operation in Brentwood, CA. The Cecchini family has been farming in Brentwood since the 1930s – at one point, they farmed 3,500 acres. After decades of farming on a large scale, the Cecchinis shifted gears and transitioned to just 34 acres, with a renewed focus on organic and regenerative practices. Today, their farm is a patchwork of vegetables, orchards, flowers, chickens, wine grapes, and more, thoughtfully managed with soil health and biodiversity at the center.

We include some of their beautiful, organic vegetables in our CSA Veggie Boxes, and they carry some of our farm’s products in their Farm Store—from empanadas to handmade ice cream sandwiches. This farmer-to-farmer exchange is exactly the kind of relationship we love to foster. We lean on each other’s strengths, share ideas, and celebrate the ways our work intersects. Supporting each other helps us all do better!

Like us, Urban Edge plants cover crops to enrich the soil, add hedgerows to support pollinators and beneficial wildlife, and composts to reduce waste and close the loop. They also run their tractor as little as possible to minimize soil erosion! These shared regenerative values are the glue that holds our partnership together.

“They have great quality,” says Barbara Cecchini about Frog Hollow. “And I appreciate that they like our quality too.”

We couldn’t agree more! It’s relationships like these that nourish our farm, strengthen our community, and keep us hopeful about the future of organic farming.
