As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on another year of meaningful impact at Frog Hollow Farm while looking ahead to a milestone year. Founded in 1976, 2026 marks our 50th year of farming and stewardship. These 2025 impact milestones reflect the values that have guided our work for nearly five decades and the long-term commitments we continue to build season after season.
🥗 Nourishing Schools & Communities:
Expanding access to fresh, organic food remains a core focus of our work. This year, 283,350 lbs of our organic fruit were enjoyed at over 500 schools throughout CA, Oregon, and Washington. In partnership with Conscious Kitchen, a program of Turning Green, we are providing children with nourishing organic fruit and supporting healthier food environments in classrooms and cafeterias. In addition, we donated 23,650 lbs of fruit to local food banks, supporting families and individuals facing food insecurity. During the holiday season, we extended this effort through a CSA box donation campaign, matching each CSA box donated by our members. Together with our CSA community, we matched 66 donated boxes, resulting in 132 CSA boxes delivered to the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano.
♻️ Optimizing Our Harvest:
We continued to maximize the value of our fruit harvest while minimizing food waste. Approximately 150,000 lbs of fruit were directed to our Farm Kitchen and dry yard, where cosmetically imperfect or surplus fruit was transformed into conserves, dried fruit, pastries, and more. By finding the right use for every piece of fruit, we're building a more sustainable and thoughtful food system, one harvest at a time.
🌱 Composting & Ecosystem Benefits:
Stewarding our land means caring for the entire ecosystem, not just producing fruit. Fruit that couldn’t be sold fresh or used in our value-added products was returned to the land and recycled into nutrient-rich compost. This year, damaged fruit—along with other organic inputs—contributed to the creation of roughly 5,000 tons of compost, which was applied back to our orchards to nourish the soil and support long-term fertility and microbial life. Beyond compost, all 280 acres of our orchard remain under continuous cover crop, protecting soil structure, improving water retention, and building organic matter year-round. These living ground covers, along with intentional plantings, create critical habitat for beneficial insects and pollinators, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to soil health, biodiversity, and the resilience of our regenerative organic farm.
These numbers don’t just represent annual totals; they reflect a deep commitment to caring for our soil, feeding our communities, and utilizing every harvest responsibly. We are so grateful to our partners, customers, and dedicated team who made this work possible and who continue to support our efforts year after year.
As we look ahead to 2026 and our 50th year as Frog Hollow Farm, we remain inspired to keep growing, learning, and strengthening the systems that connect healthy land, healthy food, and healthy communities.
