Acme’s Sour Loaf is made out of the same dough as their Sour Baguette and Sour Batard. The bread’s tangy flavor is a trademark characteristic caused by the activity of the natural sourdough culture that takes place during fermentation. It is baked in a standard loaf pan which makes it great for slicing. It is a completely vegan product. The bread is given two diagonal scores or “slashes” down the length of the loaf to allow it to open and rise evenly during the baking process. The loaf has a rather thick and crunchy crust, and an even, yet open and airy crumb throughout.

The loaf is frozen at the peak of freshness and will arrive with defrosting instructions.

This package includes 2 loaves that are shipped frozen. Each loaf measures 8″ × 6″ x 3″ and weighs 1lb and 5oz.

Defrost Instructions - To eat right away: Let it sit at room temperature to defrost for 3-4 hours. Don't be tempted to microwave your bread to defrost, as this dries it out and makes it rubbery! - To keep frozen: Keep it in its paper bag and put it in another zip-locked plastic bag in your freezer for up to a month. - To freeze in slices: Let defrost for 3-4 hours (or as soon as you can get a bread knife through it) and slice to desired thickness. Freeze slices separately (to keep from sticking together) then follow steps above. - To defrost after freezing: Take out of freezer, keep in its wrappings, and let it defrost at room temp for at least 4 hours or overnight. Slices will thaw out much faster—in about a half-hour. - To serve the bread warm after defrosting, wrap your bread in parchment paper and foil and place it in an oven heated to 400 degrees for 3 or 4 minutes.

Best bread ever!

Acme breads are so delicious and the sourdough loaf is the best….I visit Acme whenever I am in San Francisco was thrilled to be able to get this loaf delivered to MN!
