Sweet, fragrant and very juicy, the Pink Lady apple is one of our favorite to eat out of hand. Popular for a reason, this apple is as beautiful as it is delicious, with a sweet pink blush over its bright green skin. We like to eat them chilled, letting the mix of sweet and tangy burst to life on the tongue.
Variety: Pink Lady
What Are They? Cripps Pink is a cultivar of apple. It is one of several cultivars from which apples that meet quality standards can be sold under the trade mark name Pink Lady. Cripps Pink was originally bred by John Cripps at the (then named) Western Australia Department of Agriculture by crossing the Australian apple Lady Williams with a Golden Delicious to combine the firm long-storing property of Lady Williams with the sweetness and lack of storage scald of Golden Delicious.
Nutritional Value: Pink Lady apples are a good source of vitamin C. A 100 gram apple provides almost a quarter of your daily vitamin C recommendation.
How to cut/peel:Use a veggie peeler to remove the skin. Cut into quarter and remove the core.
Serving Suggestions:Eaten out of hand, in salads, baked, in desserts and savory applications.
