Yellow to green inside and out, our organic Flavor Queen pluots vary in appearance from light lime to chartreuse in color developing a soft orange blush as the season progresses. Beyond the unique coloring, smooth, thin skin covers soft, juicy golden flesh, delivering an experience similar to a white-flesh peach.
Pluots blend the sweetness of a plum with the succulent rounded texture of an apricot. As a medium-size clingstone variety, the Flavor Queen pluot hits these notes perfectly. After one bite, you'll notice sweetness front and center with a subtly tart finish and soft notes of fennel pollen and honey. When this fruit is extremely ripe, the mouthfeel is reminiscent of a Hachiya persimmon.
In addition to eating one out of hand, try a slice or two in a glass of chilled sparkling wine. Or, chop a few up for a cucumber and Zebra tomato salad with shaved Ricotta Salata or crumbled Queso Fresco for an all-green dish.
