First introduced to America by Japanese farmers who settled in California more than 100 years ago, persimmons have increasingly gotten more popular over the years. Try eating them fresh out of hand or pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The Fuyus are firm and mildly sweet when they aren't fully ripe but sweeten incredibly if allowed to ripen on your kitchen counter.
