How Our CSA Works

Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a way for individuals, families, and businesses to connect directly with a local, small farm.  Members of Frog Hollow Farm’s CSA pay for a regular subscription (e.g., monthly, quarterly, annually) and in return the farm delivers boxes of fresh fruit every week at an established neighborhood delivery site – often the front porch of a generous neighbor, or a business or school. CSA members pick up their box anytime that afternoon or evening, and sign next to their name on the manifest so we know they’ve done so.  Unless there’s a problem, they don’t need to ring the host’s doorbell, and because members pre-pay directly to the farm, no money changes hands at the pick-up.

CSA “share”-holders enjoy Frog Hollow Farm’s legendary fruit all week (if it lasts that long!), experiencing the variations and tasty treats of California’s seasons. The term “share” comes from the simple fact that by joining our CSA you are investing in Frog Hollow Farm. The CSA program helps the farm to diversify its customer base, better manage cash flow, and become a more “sustainable” business in the financial sense – in addition to already being sustainable in the organic, fair labor sense. We farm sustainably and organically from our hearts because we believe you only get out of something exactly what you put into it.

What Do Members Get In Their Box Each Week?

Frog Hollow Farm’s CSA is a year-round, all-fruit CSA featuring the finest cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, apples, pears, and citrus. During the winter, Frog Hollow’s legendary fruit is supplemented with goodies from the farm kitchen: granola, dried fruit, and olive oil, plus other unique locally-grown food. Each week we e-mail a newsletter to members on their delivery day (also available for download in PDF) so we can share news about upcoming events at the farm and give information on the different varieties of fruit we grow.

For more information about the fruits, delivery times and special events, you can also follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/FrogHollowCSA.
